Amersons in town!

So last weekend, Nannie Jane, Uncle Scott and Grant came in town to meet Emily for the LSU - Auburn game.  For those you who read this and don't know the history.  Jane is my sister and her oldest goes to school at Auburn (I know, we try not to tell too many people about this black sheep of the family!)  That Friday, my sister convinced me to play hookie from school and hang out.  We went to Dad and Judy's to visit after Dad had some minor surgery and then that night we met at Sammy's to eat drink and "be merry".  Jane and Scott also had some friends from BR meet there too.  It was a great time.

Here are the girls with Jane and Emily:

Here are Grant and Emily (my niece and nephew) - Grant has gotten so tall!

The "Weimer girls":  Emily, Jane, Katie, me and Emma (below):

What a great weekend!  Oh, and as most of you know, Emily's team EMBARRASSED themselves the next day in Tiger Stadium.  So sorry Em, GEAUX TIGERS!!  (and I mean the 'right' tigers, the purple and gold ones!!!)

Field trips and Math Night and more - Oh My!

Several things have been happening around the Carroll house the last few weeks.  Here's the latest:

Emma lost a tooth tonight - only a face a mother could love!:

We had Math Night at Northside.  Here is Emma with her most beloved first grade teacher, Ms. Mixon:

Here Emma does some math in her classroom:

Here are Katie and Emma posing by the scarecrow that looks strangely like their principal Mrs. Anderson:

Emma had a field trip to the Corn Maze (a first grade tradition).  Mark went with her and volunteered to take all of the pictures for me - although he didn't get any with him in it, I promise he was there!

Here's Emma's BFF, Addie:

Emma on the 'cow ride':

This is Carson (the red head) - his dad coaches with Mark:

Emma posing - this is one of my favorites b/c of the wonderful background and framing that Mark did with the porta potties and such (Gosh, he's like a C. C. Lockwood when it comes to photography, huh?)

We may need to put Emma back in these in high school:

Some cow couch or something? (I have no idea....)

 Emma and Cameron:

So the week before Emma's field trip, Katie and I went on her field trip to see Dr. Kaboom at the Manship Theatre.  It was right up my alley.  I didn't get to take pictures during the show, so here are just a few:

Here are Maria, Jessie and Katie after the show at North Park:

Here is Katie and her buddy Kaci before the show.  Katie really has a sweet spot in her heart for Kaci:

An awesome show of Katie and me - self done (if you can't tell!):

Kaci, Katie and "little" Alana before the show (Alana got her name from me on Katie's first grade field trip to the corn maze, just like Emma, because I was "in charge" of her and Katie and Katie was already 2 heads taller than her!)

DSHS homecoming

So last week at school was Homecoming week. It is a crazy week with dress up days and contests and so forth. This year, they asked a few teachers, myself included, to be part of a fund raiser for MDA. The kids put money in buckets in the cafeteria at lunch and whoever had the most money in their bucket would get a pie in the face! (More on that later). Here is my wanted poster:

I usually don't check the girls out to come to a pep rally, but decided to for the first time this week. Here are Katie and Emma with Nicole. She was one of my students, and she has babysat for us a few times:

Here are the girls before the pep rally starts:

Justin (one of Daddy's "boys") and Emma having a staring contest:

Everyone's favorite Jackettes dancing:

Singing the Alma Mater:

Announcing the homecoming court:

Back to the pie contest. So here are the candidates lined up before the pie in the face. Check out my pose. I was trying to get Mark to take some pictures with my camera, but he was so far away. Don't I look like a hot cafeteria lady?

Here we are after the pie throwing. Notice I am clean! This is the only reason I volunteered b/c I knew the coaches would be the ones to get the pie in the face. Mark's two assistant baseball coaches got the pies!

The football teaming praying after the peprally:

Some of the teachers / coach's kids with the cheerleaders after the pep rally:

So here we are at the game now. And everyone's favorite babysitter, Tiffany had to come back to the game to hand over her crown to the new queen. Here she is with the girls and Katie's friend Ali. We teased her a lot about her princess crown!

Tiffany and Emma again:

Mrs. Julie's baby Sarah. The girls, especially Katie can't leave her alone (poor thing):

Coach Bourque and his daughter Kylie (one of my students) as she represents the 10th grade on court:

The Bourque family:

The girls and Randi (who represented the 11th grade on court). She is a Jackette and one of my former students too:

Any way, that was our homecoming day and night. Unfortunately the Jackets football team didn't fare to well that night. Thank goodness the next weekend was better!

DSHS vs. Catholic and Dance starts!

Well, something that is always sweet in our household (although not as sweet as beating Central - ooo, Mufasa) is beating Catholic. They are not having such a great time this year, but Lord knows, we've been there too:

The final score:

Daddy and Emma after the game:

A DS tradition (win or lose) after the game is for the dancers, cheerleaders, players and such, sing the Alma Mater at / with the student section:

The student section joins in:

(sorry, my pictures are not chronological this blog). Here's Emma and her two favorite Jackettes before the game - Carmen and Randi. She adores them:

"Daddy's boys" warming up before the game:

Katie, Jessie, Annie and Emma before the game. These girls have grown up at these games:

And last week we started up dance again. Emma has decided to do Hip Hop this year, which is fine. I'm not going to make her do ballet and such if its just going to be a battle every week. So here she is posing before the first night:

Katie continues to take Ballet, Tap and Jazz and loves it all. Luckily they take on the same night at the same time (with Katie's lasting longer):
