Disney World Part 2 - our first night there.

So we got to Disney around lunch time on Friday, and kinda left it open on whether we would go in the parks or not.  We had a 7 pm dinner reservation for the 1900 Park Fare character dinner at the Grand Floridian, and we ended up not going into the parks the first day.  We were starving when we got to our hotel, so the first place we went was the Contempo Cafe in the Contemporary for our first quick service meal.

Emma and her first cupcake (of many to come) of the week.  It was a coconut chocolate one, and it was awesome:

Ever since Katie came home with a caricature drawing from my school Disney trip, Emma knew it was the one thing she wanted when we went.  So we got it done the first night in our hotel.  She picked a Cinderella themed picture.  It came out so cute:

The pool at our hotel - the view from our 7th floor:

We decided to go swimming our first day there before we went to dinner.  The pool was amazing and had a great water slide:

Our room.  We had what they call a studio room which included a queen bed and a pull out couch.  I was worried about the pull out, but the girls said it was very comfortable.  I knew the room was small, but our location could not be beat on the monorail.

Our view from the balcony of the Contemporary.  We stayed at what they call Bay Lake Towers.  I have some pictures from the end of the trip:

This is the walkway from our hotel to the Contemporary where we would catch the monorail.  We also had an amazing view of the Magic Kingdom from the walkway.

So the first night of our trip I scheduled a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare which included Prince Charming, Cinderella and the step sisters.  It was okay (not the best food... but who goes to Disney for fine dinning?), but the Grand Floridian is gorgeous!  I had never been in this resort, and I can see why it is the fanciest place on property.  I got some great pictures while we were there.

After dinner we took some great pictures outside too:

After dinner we headed back to the Contemporary to play in the game room.  Supposedly its one of the best game rooms on property.  I hate to spend money on this stuff, but the girls got quite a few games played for not too much money.  They also got "tickets" on their game card (like Chuck E Cheese with out the paper tickets) to get prizes.  Way better than Gattis and the Cheese.

That's the end of our first night in Disney.  We will head out early the next morning for the beginning of the birthday celebration at Epcot.  See you soon!
